Every month this year, I’m focusing on a specific theme of gratitude. In January, it was hygge. In February, it was women artists I admire, and in March it was books that impacted me. April will be on ways I am able to take care of myself.
Note: I am unhealthy. I eat poorly, I drink too much alcohol, I barely exercise, and I have mental health and thyroid issues. Hey guess what!? Did you hear diet and exercise help make you feel BETTER!?
If you’re like me, though, it’s hard to take care of yourself, when you’re busy taking care of kiddos, husbands, your jobs, your hobbies, your passions, etc. Taking care of yourself is a luxury and good health is something to be EXTREMELY grateful for.
What are ways you take care of yourself? Morning jogs, bullet coffee, vegan diet, regular massage? We’d love to hear! Over the month of April, I’ll be chiming in with ways I add a bit of self-care into my routine, and I’d love to try some of your suggestions! (Below I have listed a few things I regularly do.)

Dry Brushing – Need a wake-me-up stronger than coffee? How about a vigorous dry brushing first thing in the morning. It helps get your lymph system moving and pumping, eliminating toxins, and exfoliating your skin. Make sure you hydrate your skin after with a good lotion or oil, though, because this can really dry it up. Rumor has it that dry brushing can also help remove cellulite, but I’ll be the first to say I call bologna.
Yerba Prima Tampico Skin Brush is the one I use and love.

Magnesium – If I drink too much caffeine, am too stressed, and haven’t slept well, I try to remember to at least take some magnesium. It helps me get a deeper sleep, relax my wound-up muscles, and I swear it calms my brain at night the way that some of my prescription meds do. If you’re a supplement kind of person, do your research. There’s a lot of fakes out there. I personally love Thorne Research’s magnesium.

Walking my dog! Not every day, but when I do, what a joy. She’s so happy! I mean, look at this face.
